Daniel Gyollai

Postdoc

I work as a Postdoc at the Center for Subjectivity Research, Department of Communication, and am affiliated to the project “Who are We? Self-identity, Social Cognition, and Collective Intentionality” (PI: Prof. Dan Zahavi), funded by the Carlsberg Foundation. I completed my PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2021. I am a criminologist by training and, prior to joining CFS, worked as a Lecturer in Criminology at Bournemouth University. My research interests include critical criminology, securitization theories, critical discourse studies, memory studies, and, more specifically, how phenomenological philosophy can be applied in these fields. My current focus is on the phenomenological aspects of the mutually constitutive relationship between collective memory and collective identity. My project explores the embodied and enactive processes that underlie collective remembering and the role intersubjectivity plays in collective memory formation.
